About This Listing

This is one of my favorites! This guitar has a ton of style and a very robust and unique sound. Super cool little axe and a blast to play!

Up for sale is a Decca (yes, the record company) DMI 246 3/4 scale Classical guitar with very low action and a ton of character! It really has a great personality. I mean, I know she ain’t much to look at but wait til you play her.

A true relic of the 60’s, these were made by Teisco for Decca Records and sold exclusively through the Sears catalog. This guitar has been through some rough times. Condition issues are significant. See photos. However- this is by far the best player I’ve found among these Teisco parlors. The action on this one is under 2mm at the 12th fret. The neck is straight. The tone of the guitar is very unique, insistent and balanced. It records very well. The nut width is about the same as a standard steel string, making it easy for non-classical cats. The neck is chunky like a Les Paul and most of the finish has worn off so it feels very earthy and organic, like the sound.

The logo badge on the headstock is is great shape. The tuners work fine although the G tuner is bent a little. Paint chips and dings galore. Bridge is lifting a little but it’s bolted on so it ain’t moving. Soundboard is collapsing below the sound hole, as is very common with these. Adam Sandler might write a song about this one.

Priced to sell. Show some love to the old girl.

Thanks for looking!
