With the '68 Stratocaster DLX Closet Classic Maple from the Time Machine series, Fender presents a new edition of the legendary '68 Stratocaster, which combines the classic look with the tried-and-tested '68-'69 Strat wiring. The two-piece alder body is joined to a maple neck with a maple fingerboard. The authentic Fender Custom Shop Hand Wound 69' Underwound Strat pickups, which can be controlled separately thanks to a five-way switch, ensure a rich, powerful sound. and sounds and volume can be managed quickly and reliably in any situation, the '68 Stratocaster has a volume and two tone controls.
Classic CBS era headstockTypical of a Stratocaster from 1968 is the large headstock, which was significantly enlarged by Fender in December 1965. However, not only the headstock itself, but also the imprint has changed again and again over time. This Stratocaster also features the enlarged Bolder Black logo with a fine gold-colored border that was characteristic of 1968. Parallel to the new decal, also known as the CBS logo, the small 'Registered Trademark' symbol appeared behind the Fenderlettering for the very first time. The "With Synchronized Tremolo" imprint with the typical two patent numbers, which was also enlarged in the same year and is now curved, shines directly underneath.
With its '68-'69 U-profile, the maple neck is modeled on a real Stratocaster from 1968 and is attached to the two-piece alder body with four screws, just like the over 50-year-old original. Typically, there is also an engraved Fender Custom Shop logo at this point, as well as the guitar's serial number, which is also engraved. The Closet Classic Lacquer/Poly finish in combination with the Aged Vintage White provides an authentic look in the style of the '68 Stratocaster.
