About This Listing

Here's a 1963 Epiphone FT-45 Cortez in Natural finish. 100% original example (with the exception of the E logo falling of the pickguard)! Essentially this is a Gibson LG-3, made in the Kalamazoo factory, right along with Gibsons. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, X-braced, adjustable plastic bridge, with larger style headstock (before it changed to thinner headstock). The guitar plays like a breeze! 1 11/16" nut width, great neck angle, with low action down the entire length of the fretboard. The guitar sounds amazing! Full/Open tone, with wonderful balance and clarity. It's a really inspiring guitar to play. There's a tiny repaired hairline crack in the typical spot between the top of the bridge and left corner of the guard. The rest of the guitar is crack/repair free. HSC!

Product Overview
The Cortez or the FT-45 Cortez continued an earlier Epiphone model after Gibson purchased Epiphone in 1957. The Cortez featured Mahogany back and sides and was available with a natural on sunburst top finish. As the Epiphone Texan was similar to the Gibson J-45, the Cortez was similar to the B-25.
