About This Listing

1981 Ibanez AR-500 Artist with an Antique Violin finish. All original. Everything works perfectly and there are zero issues. The guitar weighs 10.98 pounds. The neck thickness measures 0.805" at the 1st fret and 0.933" at the 12th fret.

Overall in excellent condition for its age with very little wear. All hardware is very clean, with just a tiny bit of tarnish on the gold tailpiece. The top is in excellent condition with minimal wear and some faint scuffs in the clear coat. All binding looks good. The back of the body has some light worming. The neck is nice and smooth with only a couple tiny dings. The ebony fingerboard has minimal finger wear. The frets have a small amount of fretwear on the first three frets. All frets have been polished to a bright shine. The tuners work but one tuner's winding key is prone to falling out if there is no string tension on it. A spare tuning key is included. The neck is perfectly straight and the truss rod works.  All electronics are original and work perfectly.

Includes the original hardshell flight-case that fits the guitar fairly well. All latches work, as does the handle.

Overview
The Ibanez Artist series kicked off in the mid-'70s as part of the Japanese company's efforts to build more original designs rather than just copying American guitars. The AR models were Les Paul-like in their construction featuring two humbuckers and a Mahogany body with a set neck. The AR-500 was set apart by its inclusion of an onboard EQ circuit.
