This guitar were part of a pair of Mugens purchased from a discontinued German guitar shop as new unplayed stock and has been with a collector ever since. It is in minty-mint condition and the accompanying hardcase looks pristine as well with virtually nothing but dust to show its age.
Each guitar in the Mark Series is handcrafted to precise specifications. The close attention to detail on the entire Mark series results in exceptional instruments with full, rich tone and classic looks. What's especially intriguing is that the woods used for these guitars has not moved or shrunk at all over the years, with still smooth joins and absence of lacquer cracks as a result.
A feature of the Mark series is that the pick guard is made of wood and was sprayed with lacquer at the same time as the top of the guitar - thus the pick guard is sealed.
The Mark Series was initially known as the MUGEN Series. There are five guitars in the line up: Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, Mark IV, and Mark V. The Mark III was also produced as part of the Maple Series. Initially all models were available as a 12 string, though the 1982 US catalog only shows the Mark I, II, and V to be available as a 12 string.
