About This Listing

Quick notes: 1) This is consigned. 2) Any repair work has been done so it plays spot-on unless otherwise noted! 3) Please read the following text for full details and specs -- it's borrowed from my original blog post on it...

Brad Sourdiffe is a local, Vermont maker. He built this a little bit ago but it hasn't been for sale and so it's essentially a "new-old-stock" instrument.

This one features a chambered beech body with a flamed maple "cap." It's a super-curvy instrument with all sorts of contouring and it feels really cozy in the lap. I think it has a bit of a Mosrite feel to its body, in a way, even though it's a thoroughly-modern instrument.

It has a Fender-style bolt-on neck, balances well in the lap and on a strap, and definitely has its own distinct presence. The two active EMG 35 TWX pickups are coil-split-enabled via a push/pull pot (though I forgot to show it off in the demo) so you can get "meaty" rich sounds as well as some vintage-like, J-Bass sounds right in the same rig.

So -- overall -- a fast-playing, comfy, stand-out, eye-catching instrument with solid features and and an interesting selection of woods and hardware.

Repairs included: a quick setup and adjustments.

  • Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz
  • Scale length: 34"
  • Nut width: 1 5/8"
  • Neck shape: slim medium C oval
  • Board radius: 12"
  • Body width: 12 7/8"
  • Body depth: 1 1/2"
  • Body wood: beech
  • Bridge: Schaller (gold)
  • Fretboard: rosewood
  • Neck wood: maple
  • Pickups: 2x EMG 35 TWX active
  • Action height at 12th fret: 3/32 bass and 1/16" treble (fast, spot-on)
  • String gauges: 100w-45w or close to it
  • Truss rod: adjustable
  • Neck relief: straight
  • Fret style: jumbo

Condition notes: it's basically "new-old-stock" and very clean. There may be tiny little handling scratches of the "I picked it up and put it in my lap a few times" sort here and there on the body but I wasn't finding any when I was inspecting it. The finish is between satin and gloss.

It comes with: a gigbag.
