About This Listing

This is a very special Comins Chester Avenue, built alongside the “Blue Guitar” ordered by Scott Chinery. It was recently given the same refurbishment as the Chinery guitar and was in the shop at the same time as that one. This work was done by Bill Comins himself. The no longer functional floating pickup that was on it when we got it was replaced by Bill at that time with the Pete Biltoft made Charlie Christian style one you see here. The main differences between this guitar and the Chinery one are different fretboard inlays and a standard nut width on this one in contrast to the very wide one of the Chinery guitar.

The guitar shows in essentially mint condition with no finish defects or wear that I have spotted. The woods are all of the highest grade with a spruce top that shows heavy silking throughout.  The back is made of tightly flamed maple and the neck and sides are beautifully flamed as well.  The fretboard is a uniformly black piece of ebony with custom triangle shaped, mother of pearl inlays.

The neck has a slim, rounded shape with the measurements shown below. The gutar plays beautifully with action that can be set very low for fast electric play or moved higher for its full acoustic voice as the player prefers.

Weight - 6.0 pounds

Nut width - 1.70 inches

1st fret depth - 0.80 inches

10th fret depth - 0.87 inches

The guitar comes with the original hardshell case and the original tailpiece which is still completely functional. It was replaced with a new one by Bill Comins at his recommendation to prevent any risk of future failure of the original 28 year old one.
