Up for sale, a 2019 Paul Reed Smith Private Stock Brazilian #8422 McCarty 594 in mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case, COA, and all factory paperwork. Private Stock instruments represent the highest quality materials, the most personally crafted instruments, and the greatest level of customization available from PRS.
This particular Private Stock offering is jaw-dropping in its features and presentation, with a solid Brazilian rosewood neck with a Pattern Vintage carve, burl redwood top, and a black limba body. Both the body and neck are framed by curly flame maple binding, with maple headstock binding and birds-in-flight fretboard inlay as well. The pair of 58/18 LT humbuckers are only available from PRS loaded in one of their instruments (not sold separately), and these highly prized low-wind PAF-style pickups are extremely articulate, sweet, and expressive. Both pickups have dedicated push/pull coil taps on the Tone controls as well for sparkling, snappy single coil tonalities. This Private Stock PRS weighs 7lbs 13oz, strung with 10-46 strings and dialed in for low action and spot-on intonation.
The solid carved Brazilian rosewood neck has PRS' Pattern Vintage profile carve, a round and substantial C shape with full shoulders, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard has a 10" fretboard radius with flawless fretwire, playing effortlessly up the 24.594" scale length. The carved bone nut measures 1 11/16", and the headstock has a Brazilian rosewood veneer, flame maple binding and inlay, and the open-gear tuners have carved Brazilian rosewood buttons. The back of the headstock is signed and numbered by Paul Reed Smith himself.
The electronics function flawlessly, and hardware and plastics are like-new. The high gloss nitro lacquer finish on the body highlights the uncomparable presentation of the burl redwood top and black limba body, while the neck profile has a very thin satin finish.
