Up for sale, a 1947 Epiphone Triumph in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. As Gibson's chief competitor for professional-level archtops in the Post War years, Epiphone produced some of the finest USA-made instruments on the market, with the Triumph being their most popular professional archtop model, although production totals for the New York made Epis are still notably small. Structurally identical to the Broadway and Deluxe models, this Triumphis an exceptional value for a golden age USA-made archtop.
Featuring a full 17 3/8" wide lower bout, hand-carved spruce top, and hand-carved maple back and sides, this is a very elegant and powerful sounding instrument. The quartersawn carved spruce top delivers a brilliant and dynamic voice with plenty of crisp midrange chop. The trebles have a sparkling cut and round, punchy quality and the wound strings are clear and sonorous. This Epiphone weighs 5lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-54 roundwound bronze strings and easy-playing action.

The gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is framed by ambered multi-ply binding and exhibits subtle checking. Cosmetic wear includes limited pick wear, a few finish scratches along the body perimeter, and some minor dings on the body as a whole, commensurate with careful use. The smooth gloss on the neck profile has a worn-in, easy-playing feel, with palm wear and a few shallow marks that don't distract the palm while fretting.
A vintage (non-original) hardshell case is included.
The triumph was built by Epiphone up until the Gibson takeover of the company in the late '50s. This guitar was also produced with a cutaway as the Triumph Regent. The Triumph was made with both natural and sunburst finishes (though the natural examples usually go for more on the used market).
