This Epiphone Electar Zephyr Double 8 Console Lap Steel is owned by Jay Farrar of Son Volt
This beautiful mid-century lap steel has the wear and tear you'd expect from an instrument of its age including scratches, scuffs, tarnishing, cracks, binding deterioration, and plenty of finish wear throughout. As the wood has aged over time, expanding and contracting, some areas where the top meets the sides are slightly lifting, or not completely flush. This is stable, but worth disclosing. All the play wear points to this steel being thoroughly loved and used over the years, and for good reason—this thing sounds amazing. Despite the wear, everything appears to be in stable condition and ready for the studio or stage. The knobs both over-rotate ever so slightly, but this does not effect functionality. It has been modified to have three legs, and it is currently set up with six strings on each side. No case included.
