About This Listing

Here's a fully serviced wonderful example of a late 40s early 50s Gibson GA30. These are fantastic! A killer Marshall-esque crunch when cranked up. Such warm and beautiful breakup. These were originally marketed to harmonica and steel players but they make fabulous electric guitar amplifiers. What really makes these old amplifiers shine is the original speakers. Nothing current comes close to the sound of the original paper coils and lightweight cones. This features the original 12" and 8" Jensen Alnico 5s. They are in great shape. No buzzing cone cry or anything. That is a rare find in itself. Most of these you see for sale have been long replaced. I've owned plenty of the 40s-60s Gibson amp line and this one unexpectedly turned out to be one of my favorites. You will not be disappointed in the tone! To keep this amp in top order the coupling capacitors and the electrolytic filter capacitors were replaced. A grounded AC power cable was added for safety. This was done cleanly and neatly. I have included circuit photos in the listing. All the tubes are likely original but can't be totally sure. They are all old stock at least. Cosmetically it has some scuffs and dings here and there but is definately well above average for being over 70 years old. It wasn't used for over 50 years before I got it and rehabilitated it. If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch. Offers may be considered but please understand the value here. Vintage tubes, vintage speakers, clean, serviced vintage amp. It will be packed like a tank and shipped with full insurance. I know how to safely package your fragile and valuable amplifier.
