"good" (not "very good") because the body was sanded and re-varnished by brush, including the black pickguard.. Actually looks fine but was not professional level. But being clear over the maple body it looks okay. The tuners installed were incorrectly and they were the wrong size. The tuner holes were over-sized so I found a new, compact set that fits the holes and looks fine, (but not original) There was some touchup added for excessive screw holes. The original Carvin decal is missing.
The scale length is 25 1/4". The frets show very little wear. There are painted dots that were added. Neck is straight and truss rod works. The knobs are replacements. The rest is all original and in very good, clean condition. These early ap4 Carvin pickups have awesome tone. The electronics are fully working and are mostly original. It looks like some of the original wiring was replaced.
The maple body was sanded and then brush-coated by a previous owner. I had planned to refinish it but have a few too many already. It is currently in great playing/gigging condition with great sound. So I'll pass it on to another owner. These early Carvins are very substantial work horses. This is probably from 1961 or 62. They are quite rare.
The original, well worn case is included. Beat up but still works
