This very cool Partscaster Esquire-Style Electric Guitar features an alder Fender body, All Parts maple neck with ebony fretboard, Hipshot B Bender (with Drop D Lever and G Palm Lever) Joe Barden bridge and a Rio Grande Muy Grande pickup and Esquire wiring! The body has been reliced at the bass-side lower bout and is in overall very good condition with a handful of blemishes. With its "swimming pool" route, it appears to be a Mexican-made Nashville Telecaster body. The date stamp in the neck pocket is very difficult to make out, but our best guess is that it was manufactured in September of 2008. The All Parts maple neck feels great with a little extra girth and has a thickness of .86" at the first fret and .96" at the 12th. Neck is straight as an arrow and frets show no wear! Noticeable tarnishing can be seen on the bridge saddles, but hardware is in overall great shape! The guitar features a fantastic sounding Rio Grande Muy Grande pickup and Esquire-style wiring, which is explained below.
Esquire Wiring (from premierguitar.com)
Position #1. This corresponds to the solo bridge-pickup position on a Tele. On the Esquire, however, the pickup is routed through the volume control only, with the tone control bypassed for a hotter and louder lead sound with even more high-end.
Position #2. In this middle setting, the Esquire's pickup is routed through the volume and tone control—identical to position #1 on a standard Telecaster. It sounds a bit warmer compared to the Esquire's #1 position.
Position #3. Here, the tone control is again bypassed and the Esquire's pickup is routed through the volume control and a fixed “treble roll-off " capacitor/resistor network for a very dark tone that also has a slightly decreased output. Leo intended this as a “bass preset" that would allow the '50s guitar player to enter bass territory by simply flipping the 3-way switch.
Hipshot B Bender with Drop D Lever and G Palm Lever
Another very cool and unique feature of this guitar is the Hipshot B Bender with Drop D Lever and G Palm Lever! As you can see, a quarter has been mounted with a sticky tab under the drop D tuner. The previous owner explained that it acts as a shim to improve tuning stability. Please note that the B Bender arm is absent.
With only a slight movement of your guitar, Hipshot accurately bends your second string ''B'' up a whole step''C#'' without interfering with your hand technique. Hipshot finger lever instantly lowers your 6th string ''E'' to low ''D'', effectively extending your bass range and giving you new chord voicings and licks otherwise impossible.
The palm lever allows you to instantly play full chordal "pedal steel" bends, hot "chicken-pickin" guitar licks, bluesy bends, jazz voicings and much more.
Additional Information
Other appointments include an American Fender 'Corona, California' neck plate, vintage-style tuners and Strap Lock buttons (Strap Locks not included). Unbranded Fender-style hardshell case shows noticeable wear, but is structurally sound and 100% functional!
