RARE AF Telestar Wyman/Vox style bass up for grabs. This one plays really well with low action and a tonal spectrum ranging from gritty piano bass to a good, solid and very round bassy whomp that delivers FAR MORE than I ever expected, and I have good reason to believe that her new owner will be just as surprised as I was.
The neck has been shimmed to a fairly high degree in order to achieve the low action. Frets have lots of life left. Truss rod fully functional. I believe that all parts are original except the pick guard, and I will include the white one (same shape) with the shipment. Knobs were never present when I got it.
Now this part still baffles me: regarding the finish:
Upon close inspection, the original sunburst finish is, of course, obvious, BUT
under the control plate, there is some blue paint where some Bozo painted it... AND THEN... SOMEHOW, someone very carefully sanded the blue off.. without going through the original sunburst. Now THAT was a pretty fine trick, but it HAS left the bass now with sanding marks in what basically comes off as a semigloss finish.. NOT what anyone would have ever wanted, but thankfully no one has to look at the horrendous blue!
An old crack near the neck pocket exists, but it has remained ABSOLUTELY STONE SOLID in the 4 years I've had it.
Not a museum piece, for sure, but a completely functional and cool AF sounding instrument, and rare as hen's teeth.
I really doubt you or I will run into another one in ANY condition.
Don't be shy... you've got absolutely nothing to lose by making a reasonable offer... the worst that can happen is nothing.
Comes with a crappy chipboard case that is pretty much period accurate, but not original to this bass, and really doesn't offer a whole lot of protection.
