The sound is excellent only because it is made of high quality wood. Founding anniversary model D-76.

Martin / 1976 D-76

This model was released to commemorate the bicentennial of the founding of the United States. 1976 pieces (200 pieces in '75 and 1776 pieces in '76) were produced in a limited edition. The head is inlaid with an eagle in pearl, and the fingerboard is inlaid with stars representing the 13 states at the time of independence.

It has the same 3-piece back construction as the D-35, but uses the same grade of wood as the D-45. The body top is made of Sitka spruce, the side backs of Indian rosewood, and the fingerboard/bridge of ebony. The pegs are original Grover-made. The rosette and backstrip have an attractive herringbone design.

The sound is excellent as well, as it is made of high quality wood. Long sustain as good as the D-45. Compared to 45s of the same age, it has a percussive impression with a sticky mid. I thought it would be a good match for playing.

The grain of the body back has a black rosewood line running parallel to the center herringbone, which is very cool. The chances of distributing are decreasing, and it is a guitar I want to recommend more and more.

As for the appearance, the pickguard has been replaced and there is a crack repair (glued only) on the lower left part of the pickguard. There is also a hole in the end pin that has been repaired and filled in.
