About This Listing

Function f(x) Parallax Tremolo + Phaser

There is a VERY wide range of sounds in this modulation machine. Besides the tremolo depth and rate, you have a pot that morphs between wave forms to give you loads of different sounds, and then you have a phaser with rate and feedback controls on top of that. The phaser can be a very subtle and slow effect, or you can turn the knobs up and let it get wild. The level control is also very handy, since tremolo is sometimes accompanied by a perceived volume loss. With the volume boosted and both effects tuned to where you like, this pedal can be a one-stop insane solo stompbox! It also looks great, if I do say so myself.

I'm the second owner. Velcro was very neatly applied by the first owner, but I've never had it on a pedal board. I've used it a few times for some cool sounds (you can get some REALLY cool sounds) in my home studio, but otherwise it's been well-maintained and stored in the box in a smoke-free home. Comes with the original box and canvas pouch.

Reverb is categorizing this listing as the Function f(x) Clusterfuzz, which it obviously is not. If you have any questions, feel free to send a message!

From Function f(x) Website:

The Parallax is a modulation mashup consisting of an optical op-amp-based tremolo with an OTA-based 5-stage phaser bolted on to the front end. The tremolo can be transparently subtle or very deep, and allows for triangle and square waveshapes that can be blended together for a full spectrum of sound shaping. The phaser front-end can be toggled on/off via a dedicated footswitch and is capable of very slow and subtle filter effects up through watery phase-shifting madness. Think of it as a flexible tremolo with a phaser riding shotgun.

Both tremolo and phaser have independent low-frequency oscillators with dedicated controls, allowing for a dizzying array of overlapping modulation tones.  We recommend trying a medium tremolo speed combined with a slow phaser speed; when the waveform peaks align, the result is really out of this world (in our opinion).

Features

  • Optical Tremolo + Phaser in one box
