Up for sale I have an incredible Gibson SG Special. If you’re a picky collector click away, if you actually play guitar then you’re gonna want to check this out!
Unfortunately it did have a small repaired crack early in its life, however the break was minor and luckily didn’t go all the way through, as you can see from the black light photo it was a minimal crack and the face of the headstock is unaffected. It was professionally repaired in the 70s and is very stable.
The previous owner also mentioned replacing the pickups with Brandon Custom Wound P90s, it plays and sounds killer. Tuners were replaced but no new holes were made to my knowledge and these function a lot better than the stock tuners.
This year was the year Gibson stopped using Brazilian Rosewood fretboards and this guitar being an early example is one of the last SGs with Brazilian rosewood! Original finish, pick guard, and frets.
The neck is perfect with the strongest neck to body joint of the 60’s SGs. It’s nice and rounded but not fat, fits in your hand beautifully and it’s been one of my favorite guitars to play around the house and it’s perfectly straight, intonation is absolutely spot on thanks to a brand new Music City bridge. As for the frets they were recently crowned and leveled and are perfectly playable and super smooth.
I’ll send more photos upon request. Feel free to message with any questions, offers, or trade inquiries.
