About This Listing

This is a stunning example of the art of Lutherie. Tim McKnight pulled out all the stops when he built this guitar. It has his hollow back design, which does amazing things to tone and volume. The entire body of the guitar is built in two layers, with Australian black Acacia as the inner part (for its marvelous tone), and Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle on the outside. As you can see in the pictures, this is an absolutely stunning wood and I have never seen anything like it. It is extensively inlaid with various woods in a fashion inspired by Tim and Mary‘s famous “Gearhead” guitar. The sound port in the upper bout is even in the shape of a gear! This is a wonderful feature, and allows the player to hear more of the sound of the guitar. Neck is of Honduran mahogany, and the fretboard face plate and bridge are all Ebony. 12 frets to the body, which I think really improves the overall sound. There is a clear acrylic pick guard. This guitar has been played perhaps 10 to 12 hours, and is not only very responsive, but all almost impossible to overdrive due to the double top. Selling because my wife wants to travel and says that I have too many guitars. (As if such a thing were possible.) Buy this beauty and avoid the two year wait period to have one made. Comes with a Guardian fiberglass case.
