About This Listing

Vintage 1970s Sound City 120 L120 MKIV Mark 4 *Crossover* Lead Amplifier Head

I bought this beauty lately and was puzzled - it had earlier features, much more like the Mark 3. Further digging showed that this is one of the very early Mark 4 amplifiers that used the majority of the cosmetics and the internals of the more favoured Mark 3, including that smooth tolex and, more importantly, Partridge transformers. It's a really great example and in wonderful condition. I have got this recently serviced, and it needed a full set of EL34s so they're brand new. The pre amp valves are all original to the amplifier and consist of Brimar and Mullards. There are a few scuffs and scrapes throughout but nothing significant. The circuit board is in good original condition. You'll not be disappointed. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description. This amplifier has been serviced to a playable & safe standard, by one of our leading amp techs.
