You are looking at a rare, one-of-a-kind prototype, Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess Custom with Floyd Rose and OHSC, which was showcased at the Winter NAMM show in 2008. Gibson started production of the Les Paul Axcess in the summer of 2008. The serial number places it as being constructed a few days prior to the January 17-20, 2008 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA.

This guitar is in very good condition, considering that it was used by a touring musician for several years. The guitar weighs 8lbs-7oz and has what is called the Axcess neck profile, which is basically a slightly wider and thicker 60's slim-tapered neck. The neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret.

The usual swirl marks, buckle rash, wall hanger rash, etc are there, but it is mechanically sound and has been gone over and cleaned up, with all screws and nuts tightened, frets leveled, crowned and polished, the ebony fretboard cleaned and conditioned and fitted with .046 -.009 Ernie Ball strings in a standard 440 tuning, with intonation checked and adjusted. The pole pieces, on the pickups, were adjusted for maximum bite and clarity and the string height was also adjusted to spec.

The Lead pickup is a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB humbucker, with a coil-split on the volume knob to give you the ability to get those chimey single-coil strat sounds. The rhythm pickup is a Seymour Duncan TB-4 JB, which works as either a buttery-smooth rhythm or alternate lead pickup.

The original hard shell case is in excellent condition. The handle is solid, the latches all work, and the combination lock has not been set. There are stickers on the case from the musician who owned this axe. Both the guitar and case are stored in a climate and humidity-controlled environment.

The original strap buttons and pickguard assembly will be included with this purchase, as I replaced the original strap buttons with schaller strap locks and I like the look and feel without the original pickguard.

Taken from a wordpress link, concerning the 2008 Winter NAMM show: Gibson has heard the cry from its loyal customers and, in an effort to satisfy their desires, has created the Les Paul Axcess model. With such appointments as the Floyd Rose tremolo tailpiece to the ergonomic neck/body design, once you have felt the excitement of this beautifully responsive instrument, heard its rich tone and seen its exquisite, graceful design, you will know the affection that the players feel for their Gibson guitars – an affection that transcends time, style and musical trends.
