Improved tuning for vintage-style mandolins, without giving up the authentic look. We have completely redesigned our Golden Age mandolin tuners! Under the direction of StewMac's Don MacRostie, renowned mandolin maker, we've brought back classic features of tuning machines from the pre-World War II era. The look of the old, the reliability of the new. The look is more authentic than ever, but close-tolerance specifications, nylon worm bearings, and 15:1 gear ratio make Golden Age tuners smoother and more efficient than vintage machines ever were. Two optional relic finishes duplicate that "well-played" patina that makes most other modern tuners look johnny-come-lately on a vintage or reproduction instrument. The Loar-shape steel baseplates even have the same footprint and engraving as originals. Our Mandolin Peghead Drill Jig ensures precise 29/32" spacing. Bushings: We recommend the #2061 Bushing Reamer (.328" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job.
