About This Listing

NW Vintage guitars brings you a 1 of 136 made in Japan Dreadnaught Player. Epiphone Excellente's of the 70's we're built by Aria of Japan. They feature traditional lightly braced X Bracing, Rosewood back and sides with a spruce laminate top. The back on this one is spectacular with wild grain and figuring in the Rosewood, and a Flamed Chestnut center. She has her share of bumps and bruises, but she wears them well. A bit of fret wear, but it feels like a worn in baseball glove. Action set at 3 mm on the low E, 2.3 mm on the high E. The frets are in decent shape and the truss rod works. Clear and bold sound. Comes safely packed in the Epiphone Gig Bag in the photos.

Product Overview
Only 141 Epiphone Excellentes made it out into the public during the short original production run. The Excellente was the most Martin-like of Gibson flattops in its day, featuring square shoulders and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with a Spruce top.

The Excellente moniker was revived for a short time in the 1990s by Gibson's Montana workshop.

Years of Production: 1963 - 1970
