Description and photo included

Blonde, Ash body, The body dates to ’56, The 2/56 date is in the control cavity and not in the tremolo route, This one left the factory as a hardtail and then sent back to Fender in 1959 to have the tremolo installed. We think that Fender also refinished the body when this work was done, You can clearly see the original ground wire hole that would have been underneath the original hardtail bridge, The tremolo plate/block/saddles appear to be period correct, The pots date to the first week of ’59, The pickups do appear to be correct, A newer 5-way switch has been installed, The Maple fingerboard neck dates to ’59, We do believe that this neck was also installed by Fender when the other work was done, The neck finish and headstock decal are original, Different tuners and bushings were installed at one time, Period correct tuners are now on the guitar, The fingerboard was refretted and refinished by our shop many years ago, Single ply pickguard with no extra holes drilled in to the body, The neck thickness is .78′′ at the first and .94′′ at the 12th frets, 8.4 pounds, With a newer Fender tweed hardshell case, Very good

Product Overview
The 1956 Fender Stratocaster is considered one of true classic Stratocasters. Fender switched from Ash to Alder as their primary body wood in 1956. However, pickup covers were still made of Bakelite, and the neck had a thicker V-shaped profile.

Years of Production:
 1954 - present

Unique to this Year: One of the last years of V-shaped neck profile and "2-tone" sunburst finish. String holes in the back transitioned from round to oval.

Body Style: Solidbody

Wood Composition: Ash body, Maple neck with Maple fingerboard

Design Elements: Bolt-on neck, dot inlays, 3 single-coil pickups, 3-way pickup selector

Finish Specifications: 1956 was one of the last years of the "2-tone" sunburst finish as the "3-tone" sunburst was introduced in 1958. Blonde and black were available as custom finishes.

Notable Players:  Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix
