About This Listing

Price reduced! Great sounding, "Crackerjack", 1927 Gibson Mastertone no hole archtop, purchased from former teacher Tony Trischka around 1981. Hearts and Flowers neck, of unknown origin. This banjo comes with the original tenor neck, hardshell case, and first quality Reunion Blues gig bag. This banjo has a Interesting story, it was part of a 3-banjo swap with Sonny Osborne selling a flathead pot to Tony so that Sonny could buy his flathead, and Tony selling me his Archtop so that Tony could buy Sonny's flathead pot. Tony doesn't remember this banjo, but I have his original Eastern Airlines sticker with his old NYC address, see photo. Professional banjo player Rion Schmidt played this banjo on Jan. 14, 2024, a video clip of him playing the banjo can be found here: youtube.com/watch?v=KVHR9peSk7s. This banjo has a ton of sentimental value and is extremely difficult to part with. Looking for a new home!
