Roy Noble Deluxe Model Dreadnaught Guitar
Considered by many to be one of the finest builders of completely top to bottom hand-built guitars, Roy Noble guitars have been built for Clarence White, Doc and Merle Watson and Billy Strings to name just a few! This guitar rings pure with an amazing sonic range for both bluegrass backup and flatpicking. The hand cut Rosewood back and sides and Sitka Spruce top are from the highest-grade tone wood and hand milled directly on jigs and setup Roy used explicitly. Every piece was glued by hand to perfection!
The guitar also has Rosewood bracing similar to what Roy would do for some folks who had purchased older prewar Martins that needed more support to stand up to stronger guage stringing used in Bluegrass Circles. Note the handmade herringbone on the sides as well… nothing like the factory-built stuff pouring out of Martin and others built with CNC machines! The guitar has Grover tuners, has been kept in controlled humidified setting and has had recent professional work to replace the frets and make subtle adjustments to set up. Plays well up and down the neck and I’ve used a capo all over the neck (7+ frets even!!) with no buzz at all. It was built in 1991 and I purchased it in 2001 from a buyer who kept it as a collector’s item and it was in MINT condition! I’ve played it as my main guitar for over 20 years so it has some expected wear but nothing out of the ordinary and as mentioned, I've kept it in controlled humidity and had professional set up and frets redone a few years back! Comes with fitted custom Cahaya Case with carrying straps etc.
