About This Listing

The CJ is Collings’ version of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought. Huge on tone and clarity it’s been the choice of many a stage musician. While the CJ is similar in width and depth to the traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different tone. Despite its large size this model works well with the custom shorter string scale, resulting in a somewhat percussive bottom end ideal for acoustic blues or other styles that benefit from a more controlled bass response.

Hand built in Austin, TX with premium East Indian Rosewood back and sides paired with a Sitka Spruce top. Most often found with a sunburst top, we are happy to offer this one with a natural nitrocellulose gloss finish.

Other features include Ebony fretboard and bridge, medium-fat C shaped Honduran Mahogany neck, full Ivoroid body, fretboard and headstock bindings, Pearl dot inlays and logo, Nickel Waverly tuners, 3-style chevron backstrip, Ebony headstock overlay, with comfortable 1 11/16″ nut width and more.

Includes hardshell case and Lifetime Warranty.

Free shipping in the continental United States.

Product Overview
Drawing inspiration from the Gibson J-45, the Collings CJ Dreadnought acoustic guitar, designed by master luthier Bill Collings, is a kind of mixture of the jumbo and dreadnought body types. Although CJ stands for Collings Jumbo, and the guitar is sized large, the shape itself is akin to that of a dreadnought. The CJ is typically comprised of a sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, though Collings offers a variety of wood choice combinations to create different tonal qualities.
