Beautifully Designed & Handcrafted 6-String Ovation Acoustic Electric Guitar for Sale…

This beautiful Ovation Balladeer Acoustic Electric Guitar was designed and built in July of 1977, by the Ovation Company here in the United States. Based on the serial identification number (155823), this beautiful instrument is now a Vintage Collector’s Piece, and ready for a new owner. The Ovation Balladeer Acoustic Electric Guitar, 1977 Vintage, between April and December is currently selling for between $595 and $1,595 (respectively based on 2024 instrument research).

It was purchased by a member of my family in 1978, and has only had one owner over the past fifty-years. One thing unique about this Ovation Guitar is that, it has seen a lot of concert shows and performances, and audiences, and has been touched my many, many beautiful young women, from across the United States, which is the reason for the USA Stars surrounding the sound hole…

The Top, Neck, and Body where all made with a really nice cut of select hard Maple wood, based on the design specification (from the Ovation Guitar Company). The Model #1112 has a Sunburst finish, with a dreadnought body type, and an ebony wood fingerboard. All hardware and electronics are original except for the Grover Tuners, (see old screw holes, there sealed & finished).

David Maupin is a uniquely talented master craftsman (luthier) who designs, builds, and repairs guitar’s. He has been creating beautiful instruments for twelve plus years, like i.e., acoustic, bass, electric, and classical guitars. I’ll be selling the remaining inventory here on Reverb.com…

Starting in July of 2023 this instrument received a complete renovation, i.e., brand new Ovation Pickup System (to include new wiring, electronics, battery pack, saddle, and bone conductor). The fret wires have all been filed down and calibrated, cleaned with a fine steel wool, and polished. There is a little ware and tear on the finger from years of playing (but not bad). The string action on this instrument is superb up and down the entire finger board, …and the intonation is perfect!

The cracks on the face of the guitar (around the sound hole and bridge) are within the heavy layer of clear lacquer in the original finish. There are NO cracks in wood, sound hole, and/or bridge. The visible cracks have all been scraped and cleaned, and clear epoxy has been thoroughly applied. Several coats of polyurethane semi-gloss (with a satin base) has been applied for a final finish. The “Stars” surrounding the sound hole, have been sealed into the wood with a polyurethane finish…

I took this guitar on tour for five years (back in the nineties), it played really nicely, and felt great!
