Excellent vintage MIJ strat from Yamaki (Daion Gakki), a Japanese brand renown for their acoustics. These were also sometimes sold under the JooDee brand. These are top quality “lawsuit” copies of Fender.
I say 1978 as that’s the date on the catelog. I don’t have an exact date for this guitar, but they were only made for a for short period of time, so it’ll be around then. Daion developed a bunch of innovative features for their electric guitars, the most standout being the ERS System (Epochal Rod System) that enables adjustment from the neck plate.
The guitars is built from a 2-piece white ash body paired with a maple neck. The finish produces a really cool treatment of the wood grain that makes it really standout.
Overall the guitar is very clean. There’s a bump on the bottom of the body pictured, and a few small dents on the back, but apart from that, it’s in very good condition, especially considering its age. It looks like the frets have been crowned a few times so are getting low, but still have life left and the guitar has a good action with no dead spots. Everything works as should, the pick ups sound great and truss rod system works well. I added a picture from the 1978 catalog, if you google Daion catelog, you can find the full PDF easily.
Comes with (I believe original) classic MIJ faux leather soft case.
Grab a rare piece of MIJ history for a very nice price. Let me know if you have any other questions or need more pictures.
