Up for sale today is a stunning 1968 Kustom K-200B Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar in Black in very good condition with the Original Kustom Hard Case. Made under the supervision of Bud Ross in Chanute, Kansas, this player grade vintage instrument is a blast to play, weighing in at a sprightly 6lbs 5oz. Kustom, best known for their very “comfortable” amplifiers, only made electric guitars for two years: 1968-1969!
Somewhat modeled after the Rickenbacker 300 series, the K-200B has a 4-piece maple body, 2-piece maple neck (check out those inlays!) and a rosewood fingerboard. This instrument comes equipped with two single coil DeArmond pickups and a trapeze tailpiece. Scale length: 24.5”. Nut width: 1” and 5/8ths.
Guitar plays smooth as butter and is intonated very well, but frets are low, which is to be expected after 56 years. Normal cosmetics, but nothing egregious, if anything this guitar has a ton of vibe in all the right places. Case is fairly beat up, but still functional, the handle is detached at one end.
