About This Listing

This is a Brian Eastwood Bender Distortorcaster from 1990 in tobacco burst finish... and what a creation it is. You might be thinking 'collector guitar', and you'd be right, and also wrong. It's a hoot to play, sounds great, handles with ease. It sounds like a strat, and even feels a bit like one if you close your eyes, meaning arm wrest, trem/vibe, even cord location.

There are some variations vs a strat. The center knob is a blender as described below. Also, the center pickup is reversed for hum cancelling, again as described beloe. One small note is if you use the 20-something frets on the base strings, you are outta luck as the body end of the neck sacrifices those to get the curved look to the neck. We'd like to meet the guy that plays those notes. That, a slight variation on the and a weight of about eight and a quarter pounds, it's strap weight is more like an LP. But, yeah, if you're a Dead cover band, it's perfect, isn't it? And lighter than an Alembic. Comes with the original plush custom wood case.

From the maker, Brian Eastwood...

"Despite the seemingly impossible appearance of the instrument, it actually functions like a normal top-notch electric, thanks to numerous unique aspects of the design. quality of construction and components ensures that this is not just a looker - playability and sounds are equally impressive.

Visually, the Bender 'Distortorcaster' obviously speaks for itself, but here are just some of the not-so-apparent details concerning this larger than-life instrument: The body is constructed from synthetic molded halves bonded to a full-length central core of obeche. This method provides strength, reduces weight and ensures manufacturing consistency. The all-maple neck incorporates a fully-adjustable truss-rod and, in addition to the various optical distortions, features a lateral twist to aid string-bending in the higher positions. Armstrong 'Vintage' single-coils are fitted as standard, ensuring a faithful reproduction of the real thing. The center unit is reverse wound/reverse polarity for hum-cancelling operation when combined with neck or bridge pickups. The middle control progressively blends center and bridge pickups in series-humbucker mode, providing high-powered tonal variation. The other two controls comprise master volume and tone. A plush-lined, custom-built hard case is included at no extra cost.
