About This Listing

This is an SS Stewart Openback banjo from the early 1900s. A metal spun-over rim and early lugs. It’s in great shape and has a great old time sound. Strung with Aquila classic banjo strings. This banjo was made for gut strings. The head is cowhide and the tailpiece might or might not be a reproduction. The bridge looks really old but works well. There are a couple of patches inside the pot. These are not breaks in the cowhide but cover a couple of what appear to be weak spots. The rim is 11 inches wide. The tuners are original and work well. The frets and fingerboard show little wear. There is no case. Shipping is $50. Thanks for looking.
