It has been said that Yamaha acoustics are the best kept studio secret weapon. The APX-9-12 is the secret weapon of the secret weapons. It is a recording and performing tool of incomparable abilities. First of all it is a mind-boggling sounding and easy to play. But the magic is the stereo pickups. You can send strings 1, 2 & 3 Left, and strings 4, 5 & 6 Right. Or you can send 1, 3 & 5 Left and 2, 4 & 6 Right. Point a couple of small diaphragm mics at the 12th fret and at the edge of the sound hole.... and then get an acoustic sound that feels like an orchestra. Think about the possibilities!!! One person becomes a band pretty quickly.
If you are an acoustic guitar finger picking singer/songwriter.....this is the best tool you could ever put in your hands. THE BEST!!!
Mind blowing recording instrument or solo guitar gigging instrument. The pickup does mono as well....so it can behave just like a regular instrument.
It's the only guitar that when you mic and use the pickup.....you end up using as much or more of the pick up in the mix because of the stereo panning.
