About This Listing

Gibson Designer Series Explorer Style #20 in Ebony with Designer Stripes finish made in 1984 with original hard shell case. This guitar features a solid mahogany body, rosewood neck and rosewood fingerboard. Equipped with Period correct gold covered Gibson patent stamp humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Controlled by 2 volume, 1 tone pots and a 3-Way toggle switch rewired with correct style cts pots dating to 1992. The 24.75" scale length neck has pearloid dot inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12" radius with a slim taper profile. The hardware is comprised of gold Grover mini rotomatic tuning machines with mini kidney bean heads, a corian nut with Kahler string lock, a Gibson branded Kahler tremolo and amber top hat knobs.

This guitar is in overall good condition for its age. It was def a player, it has finish check throughout the entire instrument, some finish wear, some spots the finish is worn through mainly on the headstock edges, scuffs, some scratches, a few dings/ dents and some belt rash. The gold hardware is worn and oxidized. It was rewired at some point with the correct type but 1992 pots, the lower strap button was relocated at some point and put back to stock position, the 2nd hole is still there. We believe the pickups were replaced but are the correct gibson model/correct period but with gold covers, most likely when the pots were, around 1992.(factory would have been black bobbins/uncovered) (See pics)

Guitar is freshly setup and restrung with 10-46 strings. Includes Original Hard Shell Case.
