For sale is a Pro Mod San Dimas with some mods/upgrades. I believe this is a 2017 model per stamp under the neck and these are made in Mexico. These are amazing player guitars and the Charvel slim D-shape compound radius neck with rolled edges is a delight. The guitar is overall in great shape, some minor swirling as you get from regular use, and a slight mark on the tip of the lower horn (see picture)
This particular guitar has had some mods that I believe greatly improved it’s performance/playability:
· The fretboard has been fully scalloped by DC Custom guitars. The scalloping combined with the rolled fingerboard edges makes for a very fast and smooth playing guitar – if you enjoy scalloped necks this is a great one. DC Custom is a go-to for getting a neck scalloped, and they do a fantastic job.
· The tremolo has been blocked for “dive-only” using a tremolo stopper thing in the back tremolo cavity.
· The tremolo block has been replaced with a 32mm Floyd rose ‘big brass block’ for increased sustain, thicker tone.
· The tremolo claw and mounting screws have been replaced with brass hardware.
· The body has been carved out a bit such that an EVH D-Tuna could be added to the low-E saddle. This has a recessed tremolo, so I routed the cavity just enough to fit the D-Tuna in there (also part of the reason why it has been blocked for ‘dive-only’. See photos.
· Red EVH D-Tuna added to tremolo.
· Temolo arm replaced with ‘push-in’ style arm. Please know the arm is pretty scratched up at so the metal beneath the coating can be seen. See photos.
· Strap pegs are Dunlop locking type.
· The neck plate on the back has been replaced with a Fender plate- the stock Charvel plate is very large and for the sake of comfort reaching the upper frets I replaced it with a less intrusive feeling one. The original is included.
· The tone knob potentiometer is not the original pot and does not have the no-load tone control feature that pulls the tone pot out of the circuit when rolled all the way up. (this wasn't a mod- the original pot went bad and was replaced). Current pot is 500K.
Included with the guitar are the: original tremolo arm, tremolo block, tremolo back spring thing, neck plate (has serial number on it), tremolo cavity plate, original tremolo claw and screws. Roadrunner soft-shell case.
My goal with this guitar was to create a Yngwie Malmsteen-esque guitar with humbuckers and a Floyd rose, since most scalloped production models have standard tremolos and single coil pickups. The result I think is a monster of a guitar that is very versatile and fun to play. I am selling because I have several scalloped guitars and with the JB / 59 pickup combination, so there is some redundancy. The neck is straight, and I’ve not had to adjust the truss rod in the time that I’ve owned it.
Will be sold with/shipped in a soft-shell Roadrunner case in ok condition. It has some wear on the outside and there is a piece of the padding/lining missing near the headstock tip area. This guitar doesn't come with a case stock and I won't ship in a gig bag.
Sold as is.
