This is a stunning all original Gibson Byrdland from 1973/1974. It comes in its original case (+key), pickguard, bracket, and strap buton. However, there is a known issue with the nitrocellulose pickguards of that period as they disintegrated and could ruin the guitar's hardware. That's why the pickguard was removed decades ago and stored separately - keeping the guitar in excellent condition.

The pickups and electronics are untouched and 100% functional. The previous owner placed plastic covers on the pickups to protect them. I took these off, so that's why they look brand new!

She plays exceptionally light and smooth and sounds harmonically rich and warm. A very comfortable guitar due to the shorter scale length and the exceptional build quality. The frets are original and in good shape. There is some light fret wear in some places but that can easily be dressed by a good luthier.

The previous owner bought this guitar in 1975 and didn't play it that much during the decades. I bought it from him in 2019. The guitar is in excellent cosmetic condition except for some lacquer damage on the side of the guitar (see picture). I took the guitar to a luthier and he assured me that the construction of the guitar is fully intact. The damage is most likely caused by the use of a strap with a metal buckle. I chose not to refinish this area but rather keep the guitar original. It doesn't bother me as it doesn't affect playability, sound, or the front-face appearance.

Apart from that, the guitar has some wear and small blemishes from age and playing, yet there are no cracks or checking of the finish which is exceptional for a guitar of this age! So besides the lacquer damage mentioned above, this guitar is in amazing condition. She was never gigged, and only used in studios and stored in its case most of the time.

So there you go. A gorgeous Gibson Byrdland in an Iced Tea Sunburst. Made in the USA in 1973/1974.
