I am selling my Noble 686-2HT Mosrite Combo copy, made in Japan for the Noble Strum and Drum Company of Chicago around 1967. This guitar was made for only a few years, maybe because it was such an obvious and successful copy of the Mosrite Model.
Straight neck, clean electrics, and cool humbucker style pickups that may be single coil but are noise free.
The frets are full, the tuners keep tune and everything is original and authentic. The tremolo is the least cool thing about the guitar - I have considered going the Moslite route - but it does work and looks better than most of the other Japanese styles.
This is a substantial instrument - 40 inches in length, about 16 inches across at the lower bout and about 1 3/4 inches deep. Scale is 25 inches. It is not light in weight, probably around 8 or 9 pounds.
The dark wine color finish is clean and hard to photograph without reflections and has very few chips or nicks. The German carve looks sharp and catches the light.
There are vertical seams on the top and bottom of the guitar which seem to be how they were manufactured. One of them has turned into a small crack near the lower right side that is clearly seen in the photos. Was this way when I got it years ago and is absolutely stable and solid. I owned another one of these years ago and it had the same seams.
This guitar plays great, very low action, and has a nice jazzy sound. Currently strung with 11-46 Elixirs that are probably ready for a change but will leave that to you.
This Combo "homage" is very well crafted and one of the better made Japanese guitars from this era and most likely came from one of the more successful factories like Matsumoku.
Comes in an large basic padded gig bag, will be packed professionally and shipped quickly.
