About This Listing

Taylor 810-BCE "Legends of the Fall" Brazilian Rosewood Limited Edition Guitar:

History / Features / Condition:

History:

I am the original owner of this 2000 Taylor 810-BCE. I bought it new in 2001 from a local music store/dealer here in Greater Cincinnati. The unique combination of the following three attributes, make this guitar very rare and very collectible:

a) The quality and "figuring" of the Brazilian Rosewood used to build this particular 810-BCE

b) This guitar's Fishman/Taylor electronics (no longer available on Taylor Guitars after the early 2000's)

c) The Limited-Edition nature of this guitar and its "Legends of the Fall" marking.

A phone conversation on 1-17-24 with a sales representative at Taylor's El Cajon, CA. factory/headquarters, confirmed there were only 181 of these 810-BCE "Legends of the Fall" guitars produced in the year 2000. The limited production of this model coupled with current restrictions on harvesting and/or transporting Brazilian Rosewood internationally, greatly enhances this guitar's current and future value. Of the handful of Taylor 810-BCE guitars listed for sale over the last several years, none that I have seen compare with this guitar aesthetically. The figuring of the wood grain on this instrument is not only flawless, it is incredibly dramatic. Particularly on the back side of this guitar. This instrument may be the most beautiful "Legends of the Fall" 810-BCE ever produced by the Taylor Guitar Co. The beauty of the wood on this instrument is stunning. I invite you to view the photos featured on this listing, then... decide for yourself.

If you are interested in owning one of these "Legends of the Fall" Limited Edition Taylor 810-BCE's, this listing is one of only a handful of opportunities anywhere in the world.

Features:

Manufactured in November of the year 2000, this guitar delivers a very "warm" and pleasing tone with a sparkle in the upper register that distinguishes it from other acoustic guitars that might be played alongside it. During the years I gigged out with two other musicians, each also had Taylor acoustic electrics: (a W-14 Grand Auditorium Walnut and a KOA 710-CE). This 810-BCE sat in the middle of the mix next two these other great guitars with a beautiful tone that had its own distinct personality. The even, yet warm tone of this guitar blended perfectly with the other two guitars while still presenting each note with its own distinct tonality. This guitar also sounded "drop dead incredible" through the pair of Bose L1 Model 1 tower systems we played through.

Features of this guitar: A dreadnaught body w/venetian cutaway, Brazilian rosewood back & sides, Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, Ebony fretboard with mother of pearl inlays, "3-ring" rosette w/abalone center ring, factory Taylor/Fishman electronics w/stereo blender (microphone & piezo pick-up) and feedback notch, Slim "C" neck profile, Gold "Grover" tuning keys, Tusk nut w/ebony base, Tusk saddle bridge and a tortoise shell pickguard. This guitar has been restrung with "medium-light" Elixir Polyweb strings .012 - .053. The very last photo on this listing is a stage photo of one of our concerts. I am on the right with this Taylor 810-BCE in my hands.

Condition:

I've listed this guitar's condition as "Very Good". Per Reverb.com definitions, I could have listed this guitar as being in "Excellent" condition. I chose to error on the conservative side stating the "condition" of this instrument as "Very Good". This way, I feel I'll "under-promise" and "over-deliver" for whoever chooses to purchase this guitar. The only signs of use on this guitar are one very tiny spot on the Sitka top of the guitar and some "pick rash" near the pick guard. Other than that, this guitar is as it was when I first brought it home. This guitar still has the original neck set-up it had from the Taylor factory. The frets have never been dressed or replaced. Wear on these frets is as you would expect on a "used" instrument. The original hard-shell case included with this guitar has done it's job well preserving and protecting this 810-BCE while I was gigging out with it. The case is still very serviceable however it shows the signs of wear one would expect after protecting this guitar during transport to and from gigs. The case still looks good, however on close-up inspection you will see the edges of the case are frayed in several different areas.

Flaw # 1: Small Nick(s) on spruce top. Location: bottom of guitar top, just left of center (see close-up photo of bottom front of guitar). This is barely noticeable when standing a few feet away from the guitar. None-the-less, this nick(s) is/are "there" and can be seen in direct light if you look closely enough. Coincidentally, there is a small area near the nick where the wood appears "lighter" in hue. This is a natural characteristic of the piece of Sitka spruce Taylor Guitar Co. chose to build this guitar with. It is a natural characteristic of this guitar.

Flaw #2: Pick "rash" between 5:00pm position and 6:00pm position on Rosette just inside the pickguard. (see close-up photo showing sound-hole, rosette & label inside guitar). This "pick rash" is the result of normal use.

Comment: Given this guitar still has its original neck set-up and has been sitting idle (in its case) for the last fourteen years (in a climate-controlled environment), you will probably want to have the neck adjusted and set up to your own personal preferences once you take receipt of this guitar. That said, the neck on this guitar is in excellent condition.

Thank you for your consideration! Feel free to message me with any questions you may have about this incredible instrument!!!
