Really killer Guitar. Early reissue of a 1961 SG Custom. These still went by the name “Les Paul” until about 1962 now and was later renamed the “SG.” There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs to the wood in the headstock, heel, control cavity, or any other area. Everything is solid and works as it should. The pots date to the last couple weeks of 1986. At this point they were still using the Tim Shaw PAF’s. Shortly after this, they switched it the Bill Lawrence humbuckers, which most agree are a step down in quality.
Cosmetically I would rate this guitar as being in “very good“ condition. It has some minor play wear but nothing major. The original white finish has suddenly aged to a nice cream color. The guitar looks to be all arrangement with no changes to the parts, electronics or finish. It has a medium neck profile. Not a fat neck at all. This came stock from the factory with standard size to Gibson frets. So it’s not a fretless wonder which for most is a good thing. There is some finish checking along the edges of the binding in a couple places and in the neck pocket area. This is all very normal for the model and for this particular finish. Comes in the original chainsaw protector case.
