Do you want a fretless bass of top tier Japanese craftsmanship, great quality and sound but also don't want to give up fretted basses? Bass-ically two basses in one? Then, this one's for you!
Up for sale is a pretty rare bass, a Westone Spectrum LX with 2 necks. This bass was made in Japan, Matsumoku factory in 1986. This particular example is relatively light, excellent hardware and sound, slim neck and balances excellently on a strap.
It came from the factory with two necks, one fretted and one unlined fretless, an option only available for two years and only in this, top of the line model.
The necks don't directly screw into the wood, so you can change necks as much as you want without fearing of stripping the wood or the bolts. As is common for Japanese instruments, excellent quality materials and metals have been used.
It's fresh off a setup at a local luthier and is strung with GHS Flats.
Of course due to it's age, it's got some signs of use but nothing serious. Probably the biggest sign is a paint crack on the back of the body that in no way affects the playability or sound of the bass. It's got some interesting electronics but since I'm a passive electronics fan, I didn't try to make sense of what they actually do. I've read that the switches are phase switches, so I guess that's what they are. They probably produce some quite unique fretless sounds.
Grab this while it's available, send me a message and let's work out a deal!
