Very good vintage condition. I bought this a few years ago directly from Beamish. Here is what he told me:
The 224X for sale is the unit used to develop the 224X. The project was done at Lexicon on a 224 chassis and thus - the front closure panel is marked 224. The serial number is 2000. The first production 224X was serial number 2001.
The RAM board and the T&C board look to be hand stuffed and all of the programmed devices had hand written labels on them. (NOT BREADBOARDS JUST HAND STUFFED PARTS WISE)
As a matter of course - I upgraded all installed firmware including system control proms. The original installed firmware was all different than the production firmware. So for the sake of reliability and to be sure the firmware acted as defined in the instruction manual, I upgraded everything to the 224X Standard.
The gentlemen that sent this to me rescued it from a dumpster when they were emptying out the Waltham MA plant. The gentleman was a firmware writer for Lexicon and knew a lot about all of these projects ins and outs.
