About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1967 Gibson ES-125 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Fully hollow with maple body construction and a 16" lower bout width, the ES-125 delivers a clear, broad natural acoustic tone that projects well and is faithfully captured by the P-90 pickup. Very dynamically responsive and rich, the P-90 meters at 8.4k ohms and has a glassy treble bite, smooth growl and rich midrange character. At 5lbs 8oz, this Gibson is featherweight, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and 11-49 roundwound strings.

The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a fast-feeling C-shaped carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 9th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard is a dark, tight-grained cut, with pearl dot inlay and original medium jumbo fretwire that has good meat and exhibits no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nylon nut measures 1 9/16" in width, and the headstock features a clean Gibson gold silkscreen and original Kluson Deluxe double line strip tuners with white buttons.

The body retains the original P-90 and wiring harness, and hardware includes the original chrome-plated trapeze tailpiece and floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, which has room for future adjustment at both bridge thumbwheels. The top has great curvature as well, and the neck set is ideal. All original plastics include a one-ply transparent tortoise pickguard (exhibiting light wear in a small rectangular area), black P-90 cover, and pair of gold reflector cap knobs.

The original two-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss exhibits vertical finish checking, with some scattered pinhead-sized marks on the back and rims. The top presents extremely cleanly with sparingly little wear, and the neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with just a few very shallow marks clustered on the bass-side shoulder behind frets 7-9.

A vintage (non-original) black tolex hardshell case is included. The case has functional latches and the original handle, with a Frankenstein graphics drawn on the lid.
