This guitar is stunning! I can’t believe how beautiful this strat is, this has to be one of the most beautiful Strats I’ve ever seen. An American Vintage Reissue from 2001, it’s in near mint condition! It was obviously never played and put away when it was brand new, it’s seeing the light of day for the first time right now. Crazy!
This strat is stunning to look at, play, and listen to. It’s just crazy how near mint it is for the age, especially with the gold metallic where flaws are usually pretty visible, turning it over and over in my hands it seriously looks brand new. The lacquer on the neck is as fresh as can be, there’s no fretwear or any sign that this was ever played at all. So bizarre, especially considering that it’s such a lovely guitar that loves to be played. The USA factory was on fire in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, the guitars feel and sound really good. This guitar is so beautiful, so well balanced, so stunning to play and look at, it’s just a beautiful work of art. It’s light and buoyant but it feels phenomenal to hold and play. It can be a Buddy Holly 50’s strat as well as a Soft-V neck shape blues machine. I can’t say enough good things about it.
As an instrument, I can’t think of a single change I would make. The strat pickups sound sparkly and greasy, the neck pickup has all the gulp and the bridge and middle has all the chime and cut. The pickups from this era of Fender are some of the earliest true-to-form vintage reissues that sounded like the real 50’s and 60’s Fender pickups, they paved the way for a lot of the tone-chaser pickup makers that came later. Everything else about it is so classy. The tuners, the vintage tint on the neck, the lacquered fretboard, the fretwork, the soft-v neck shape, it’s all just so perfect. Wouldn‘t change a thing!
It comes with the original Whammy bar and what I believe is the original 90’s Fender gig bag! The one way it’s showing it‘s real age just a little bit is that the pickgaurd is doing the thing that 50’s Strats do, where along the edge between the middle and bridge pickup the pickgaurd has that little wave to it, but that’s such a true-to-form vintage characteristic to have that. It‘s an amazing instrument as much as it is a great art piece. Great guitar!
