About This Listing

Limited Edition #182 of only 200 made. Mint condition and ULTRA light at only 6.2 lbs.

Purchased new from an authorized retailed in late 2023, one of the last made by Gibson. Stored in my temp and humidity controlled music room. No pets, no smoke. Barely played 3-4 times max. Aside from being a limited edition collectors piece, this particular example is extremely light weight and resonant while also being well-balanced and comfortable on a strap.

With a high gain amp it sounds just like classic Metallica, but also does clean, crunchy, bluesy and everything in between. Feels and plays like a vintage instrument. Setup exactly as it arrived with original strings and no modifications or adjustments of any kind. Will ship to you how I received it in original sturdy double box. Includes replica hard shell case with all case candy in original packaging. Certificate of authenticity hand signed by Kirk Hammett.

Description:

Metallica fans worldwide are familiar with Kirk Hammett’s 1979 Flying V. It was Kirk’s first Gibson and established his passion for Gibson guitars. Its purchase was inspired by famous Flying V players Kirk admired and because he was looking for a fuller sound. And what a sound! Kirk still plays the original guitar to this day, and used it on all the early Metallica albums, including Kill ‘Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, …And Justice for All, and The Black Album, making it one of the most important heavy metal guitars of all time. Only 200 were hand-made by the expert luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, artfully aged to match the original by the Murphy Lab. The included Certificate of Authenticity photo is signed by Kirk Hammett himself.
