Vintage late 1960's Harmony Sovereign H1203.
This is a great example of an old Harmony with all the necessary repairs and upgrades done to make it a reliable guitar that plays with an easy action. You can get that old Harmony guitar tone without making your hand hurt at the end of the day.
These guitars feature solid Sitka Spruce tops with Honduran Mahogany back and sides, much like the Martin Guitars of the same era.
The tone is very strong and punchy. It has a big, round low end that makes chords sound huge when you dig in, but is still balanced for finger picking. Projects loud and clear leaving tons of room for dynamics.
The neck is pretty fat but not quite a baseball bat like the Harmony's from the 50's can have. It has a slight taper toward the nut but is still pretty big down there compared to modern guitars.
Plays great thanks to a recent neck reset. The action is set at 7/64" on the bass-5/64" on the treble side at the 12th fret. The bridge was also reset with a new saddle carved for better intonation. There is also a repaired sided crack and a hairline top crack that's been repaired on the bass side of the lower bout. The tuners have also been replaced for better stability. I have been using this on and off for different things over the past year after having the restorations done and it is great because you get the classic old sovereign tone that is super warm and sort of percussive in a cool way without all the quirks you get from many Harmony guitars.
