About This Listing

Up for sale is a 1980 Gibson F-5 L "Fern" Mandolin in its original sunburst finish. Label signed by Jerry Rowland. This instrument came out of a collection of guitars that came from an ex Kalamazoo Gibson employee. This is the first and only time this Mandolin has been on the market and it is in excellent condition less some pickguard wear and an area of binding chipping on the edge of the cutaway. Pro setup in house and comes complete with its original and equally clean hard case. Weight: 2lbs. 5oz.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:

We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage products as accurately as possible in our listings.  Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so.  We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument.  Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.

We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear.  If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have.  Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.

Product Overview
Gibson F-style Mandolins stand as some of the most important and iconic Mandolins ever made. While those made after World War II are not nearly as highly regarded as those made in the '20s and '30s, higher-end Gibsons like the F-5G are still very sought-after instruments. Given contemporary demand for Mandolins, these instruments are typically built in very limited production runs.

Years of Production: 1993 - present

Wood Composition: Maple body, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard

Design Elements: Single-bound top, unbound fingerboard, pointed body, f-holes
