Yamaha Super Bass SB-500 1970s Black Converted to Fretless Made in Japan MIJ w/ Bag

This 1970's Yamaha SB500 is in pretty rough shape. There is quite a bit of relief on the neck but the truss rod does not turn in either direction. The action is very high despite the saddles being set very low. The previous owner had also converted this bass into a fretless and the body has been decorated with white and yellow tape.

This bass shows quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the years. The front and back of the body shows various scratches, scuffs, and chips throughout and there's some slight checking in the finish, particularly towards the bottom and sides of the body. There is also some oxidation present on the screws and hardware. The pickguard appears to have been cut down in half and the remaining screw holes have been filled. There are several dents along the back of the neck and the headstock shows quite a bit of wear as well. Overall, this looks like a vintage instrument that has been poorly treated.

This bass originally had frets and the pickguard has been modified, everything else appears to be original.
