The remastered X Series is made to play. The acoustic-electric D-X2E Brazilian 12-String features a hand-rubbed satin spruce top with an elegant abalone pattern rosette and eye-catching Brazilian rosewood pattern high-pressure laminate (HPL) back and sides for added durability and looks, without sacrificing that classic Martin tone. Playability enhancements include a thinner fingerboard with a gently beveled comfort edge and refined string spacing, and a modernized bridge contour for a smooth and comfortable playing experience. It also features a select hardwood neck, fingerboard, and bridge for improved sound and sustain, and Martin E-1 electronics with a built-in chromatic tuner and volume, tone, and phase controls. The D-X2E Brazilian 12-String's iconic Dreadnought body size is loud and projective with strong bass, lending itself to any genre and experience level, while the extra strings provide a unique layer of chime, tone, and texture. All X Series models come with a softshell case.

What does “faux Brazilian HPL” mean?
Think of it as a visual and functional substitute for Brazilian rosewood, not Brazilian rosewood itself. HPL is a laminated/composite material with a photographic/printed wood pattern. Martin uses it because it's durable, consistent, and considerably less expensive than a guitar made with genuine Brazilian rosewood.
The interesting part is that the top is real solid spruce, so this isn't an entirely laminate guitar. The spruce top is doing much of the important acoustic work, while the HPL back and sides provide durability and the Brazilian-rosewood appearance. GGuitar World
How does it sound?
It's aimed at that big, sparkly, chiming Martin 12-string sound: strong projection, substantial bass from the dreadnought body, and lots of harmonic shimmer. Guitar World specifically praised it as an affordable way to get classic 12-string character, noting the solid spruce top and that the HPL has the appearance of Brazilian rosewood.
