About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2000 Jackson Stars Randy Rhoads model RR-J1 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. A rare Japanese domestic market model with a White/Black Pinstripe finish, the Jackson Stars instruments are the direct descendants of the Grover Jackson line, expertly crafted at the Chu Shin factory. Originally commissioned by the late, great Randy Rhoads, his namesake guitar was actually the first Jackson made, with an unmistakable aggressive V body shape. The Rhoads V gained a following in hard rock circles soon after production began in the early 1980s, and has been played by such luminaries as Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Megadeth's Marty Friedman, and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, among many others.

Featuring neck through maple construction with alder body wings and a 24 fret ebony board with jumbo fretwire, this Jackson has an immediate, articulate acoustic tone. Loaded with the original pair of USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers, this Rhoads V features an SH-1 PAF in the neck position and a TB-5 in the bridge. The SH-1 '59 model is designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with sweet, singing sustain, wound to deliver full-sounding chords. The bridge pickup is a TB-5 Custom Trembucker, with aggressive midrange, treble attack, and exceptional sustain, perfect for screaming solos. Weighing 8lbs 13oz, this Jackson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and fast action.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Quartersawn rock maple
-Shape: Slender D, measuring .735” 1st fret, .850” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Bound ebony, 24 fret, 15” radius
-Frets: Jumbo, hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 4-8
-Scale Length: 25” 1/2"
-Nut: 1 5/8”, locking
-Tuners: Jackson Stars-branded Gotoh
-Serialization: Stamped beyond last fret, dating to 2000

Body Specs:

-Wood: Poplar
-Pickup: Jackson J20
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x1, three-way pickup selector
-Harness: Upgraded CTS pots
-Hardware: Floyd Rose tremolo, knurled domed knobs

The gloss White finish is accented by the Black pinstriping and pickguard, and cosmetic wear is limited to a couple tiny chips at the body points (a common occurrence on any V body shape) and just a handful of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original hardshell case with form-fit plush interior is included, along with the Japanese hangtags. Only the central latch is currently functional on the case.
