Jaime and Vicente were brothers and registered in the records of the Escuales de Artesanos de Valencia. 1) Jaime was registered as Guitarrero in 1869 and 1870 (he lived at: Vivons, 6 in Ruzafa). 1) Vicente was registered as Guitarrero in 1879 until 1881 (he lived at: Carlos Cervera, 14) in Ruzafa.
It is unclear if Jaime worked solo or for others (like Sentchordi or Pau or with Bautista Alcañiz). His active period in Valencia is estimated to be 1874 - 1886. The same questions go for his brother
Vicente, and also: did Vicente also participate in Ribot & Alcañiz? In ≈ 1886 Jaime starts up a guitar factory with Bautista Alcañiz in the Calle Ancho
80 in Barcelona. The guitars by Ribot & Alcañiz are typical examples of the Valencian school. At some time Jaime mentions only his name on labels, indicating Bautista
Alcañiz stopped earlier. During the period 1915 – 1918, Jaime Ribot was buying strings from Telesforo Julve.
4) Jaime is noted in the Client Register of Salvador Ibáñez (<1925) 4) According to E. Pujol, Jaime died approx 1920 while his son Juan died already in
1918. (His son had a limited production of high-end instruments). Vicente Ribot emigrates to the USA in June -1918.
Jaime Ribot Jaime Ribot (Barcelona, active c. 1900-1920). Jaime Ribot was a luthier in Barcelona at the beginning of the twentieth century who shared a workshop with Bautista Alcañiz on the Calle Ancha until 1920. In addition to classical and flamenco guitars, he also made bandurrias.
