About This Listing

Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..

A really cool hard to find Vintage 1986 Gibson 62' Reissue SG Standard in Heritage Cherry Mahagony with the Rosewood Fretboard and the original Gibson Chainsaw Deluxe Hard Shell Case! \

Be sure to check out the video demo of this awesome vintage Gibson Guitar!

No doubt about the date of this one. It has the proper 1986 Serial number on the back of the headstock and we also dated the pots to 1985. See pic 7. They made this reissue from 1986 thru 1991. That makes this one of the first!

The guitar is all original and in great shape. Only one dinger on the back of the neck. See pic 5. The frets are in fanstastic shape and we even removed the plastic from the back plate. It had never been removed. I don't think this guitar spent any life outside of the studio. It was owned by a Pro Player, but it doesn't appear to have spent any time on the road.

The guitar has new strings and a recent setup that has it playing great. The action is set for playing and bending ease. No sore fingers with this cool guitar

Here's what Reverb has to say about these cool guitars!

The Gibson SG was introduced in 1961 as a complete replacement for the Les Paul. The new design was thought to be a more modern solidbody guitar, with sleek beveled edges and two sharp cutaways. By late 1963, the Les Paul moniker was dropped, and the SG (or Solid Guitar) became an entirely separate model. The SG has remained in steady production ever since earning a place as one of the truly classic solidbody guitars.

Years of Production: 1961 - present (with some changes in name)

Body Style: Dual cutaway solidbody

Wood Composition: Mahogany body, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard

Design Elements: Dual humbucker pickups, two volume and two control knobs, stopbar tailpiece with large tune-o-matic bridge, 24.75-inch scale length, set neck, tune-o-matic bridge

Notable Players:  Tony Iommi, Angus Young, Derek Trucks, Jeff Tweedy

I like these from the ease of accessing the entire 22 frets without any guitar body getting in the way. These are seriously cool guitars to play. This one took me back from the setup on it. It plays as well if not better than any Gibson I have ever had. It was a pleasure to play.

The guitar has a 24 3/4 inch scale neck with a 1 11/16 inch wide nut. It weighs in at 6 lbs 10 ozs. About half of your Les Paul guitars...Easy on the back on those 4 hour gigs!

The guitar is in really good shape but check out that case! Its the nicest Gibson Chainsaw case I have ever seen or had here in the shop. Its beautiful! The gorgeous Deluxe Royal Blue interior really sets off the Mahogany Red of the guitar. I love this case! All the latches work as they should as well as the hinges. The Accessory box is still with it as well. Just some moving scratches on the bottom. Its very cool! What a great 1986 case!!

Now this guitar is uber cool but old and vintage so it is sold as-is no returns..Thanks for respecting that!
